PLANNING WATCH
This issue covers planning applications validated or decided between Friday 2 October and Thursday 8 October 2026. Every application the council's Planning Online portal shows as validated or decided in that window appears below, once, with a link to its own application page. Full entries are given where an application is a major, affects a listed building, changes a use, varies a condition of an earlier permission, or is otherwise of wider interest; every other application appears in the register. Neighbour consultation expiry dates are given where the portal shows them; comments are made via the portal link on each item.
A correction affecting Issue 1. The portal's date search treats both ends of the date range as exclusive, so applications validated or decided on the first and last days of a window do not appear. Issue 1 was built on that search and so left out applications dated 25 September and 1 October, and a few others that the portal did not return at the time. Sixteen of them are added at the end of this section under their own heading.

From 6 October 2026 the market's new blue-and-white striped stalls operate on the northern side of the Cornhill, opposite their previous position, with traders facing Westgate Street and Lloyds Avenue. The council says the move creates room for more stalls and allows public realm works on Lloyds Avenue to go ahead: wider footways, new planting and landscaping, and improvements beneath Lloyds Arch. Hot food vendors at Giles Circus are not affected.
